Kaktus Cartoon Award 2025 – The Solution / Die Lösung

Theme: "The Solution"
Artists are invited to interpret the theme freely. It may relate to major global issues such as wars, inequality, climate change, or smaller, personal, and humorous problems. Each artist decides what "the solution" refers to.

Submission Deadline:
From June 10 to July 9, 2025, at 11:59 PM (CET)

Submission Rules:
Participation is open to professional cartoonists aged 18 and older.
Each artist may submit up to three original cartoons.
Works can be hand-drawn or digitally created. If AI was used, this must be clearly declared with the name of the provider and model.
Cartoons must address the theme “The Solution.”
Accepted file formats: .pdf, .psd, .jpg, .tif, .png
Minimum resolution: 300 dpi, suitable for A4 printing
Speech bubbles or captions must be in English or German, or accompanied by a translation within the form
Submission is complete only after confirming via a link sent by email

Awards:
1st Prize: €2,500
2nd Prize: €1,500
3rd Prize: €1,000
Winners will be selected by an independent jury. The best cartoons will be presented in an exhibition in Linz and on tour. The award ceremony will take place on October 15, 2025, at the Schlossmuseum Linz. A supporting program will include discussion panels, creative workshops, and screenings from the documentary series "Draw For Change."
