Organized by Abla Art Foundation, together with Fayoum Art Center, the Embassy of Ireland, and its partners.
Themes
Cartoon Theme: BORDERS
Borders can be physical, political, cultural, social, or imagined. This theme invites artists to explore freedom of movement, restrictions, belonging, identity, division, connection, and the many ways borders shape the world around us.
Artists are invited to question what borders represent, whom they serve, what they protect or divide, and what happens when they are crossed or challenged.
Satirical Portrait Theme: LADY AUGUSTA GREGORY
Lady Augusta Gregory (1852–1932) was an Irish playwright, folklorist, cultural figure, and co-founder of the Abbey Theatre.
Gregory travelled to Egypt in the 1880s, where she encountered the Egyptian nationalist movement and Ahmed Orabi. This experience had a profound impact on her political consciousness and inspired her first published work, Arabi and His Household (1882).
