Theme: caricature of Andy Warhol.
The Peruvian-North American Cultural Center of Arequipa proudly announces the third edition of the “Julio Málaga Grenet” International Caricature Competition, aiming to revalue and promote the art of caricature from Arequipa to the world. Last year, the contest received over 300 artworks from 41 countries, establishing itself as one of the most prestigious caricature competitions globally. The first edition’s winner was Argentinian artist Juan Francisco Miranda, who traveled to Arequipa to receive the award.
Theme
The subject of the 2025 edition is a physiognomic caricature of Andy Warhol.
Eligibility and Participation
Participation is open to all professional and amateur artists over the age of 18, from any country. Each participant may submit up to two original works that have not previously been awarded in other competitions. The artworks must be created in any technique, in A3 format, and submitted in JPG format at 300 dpi resolution. AI-generated works will not be accepted. Each submission must include the registration form, available on the official website.
Deadline
The deadline for submissions is July 2, 2025, at midnight (Peruvian time). The organization will publish a list of received works to confirm their eligibility for final judging.
Prize
The winning artist will receive:
USD $1000
A commemorative statuette of Julio Málaga Grenet
A certificate of recognition
A trip to Arequipa, Peru, including 3 nights of accommodation and meals to attend the award ceremony on October 9, 2025
Judging and Exhibition
The jury’s decision is final and will be communicated via email and published on the official website, Facebook, and Instagram. The winner is required to deliver the original artwork upon arrival or send it via certified mail if unable to attend in person. Selected artists will receive a digital exhibition catalog and a certificate of participation. The organization reserves the right to use and reproduce the winning and selected works without further permission or payment to the artists.
