Chubasco (Víctor Vélez), was born on February 6, 1972 in Mexico City. He is a professional cartoonist and visual artist, from the early age of 16 he began publishing in “El Universal”, one of the main newspapers in Mexico. Throughout his career, he has also collaborated in important media such as "El Economista", "La Jornada" and "Reforma".
Together, he has participated in magazines such as " Always ," " Expansion ," " Life & Style ," " Chilango ," " Quo ," " Esquire, " and " People ." He has been a contributor to the French magazine " Courrier Journal ", a subsidiary of the newspaper "Le Monde" and has been a cartoonist for " CartonClub " and " Vj Movements Cartonista ".
Squall has also dabbled in the process of organization, coordination and curation of exhibitions of famous Mexican caricaturists as Abel Quezada , Manuel Ahumada and Ernesto "Chango" Cabral . He has also been a juror in important events such as the Havana Biennial in April 2015.

As a result of his prolific caricaturist career, he has participated in the creation of the book “ Mexican Corruption ” (ed. Grijalbo) and has illustrated books such as: “ Cortando Rábanos ” (Co-edition with the Secretary of Culture of San Luis Potosí, Ediciones del Lirio and the Museum of Popular Art); “ The circus ” (Ed. Arts of Mexico); " Animals demonized in the land of the Hñähñu " (Ed. Arts of Mexico); “ Jacinto Pérez, image hunter of the Mexican Revolution ” (Ed. Arts of Mexico); “ Elías's gift ” (Ed. Arts of Mexico) and “ Cartmoons”With the trajectory of his work (Ed. Cartoon Ark, Greece).
Among the exhibitions he has made, is “ Marital Status: Humorist ” (Cultural Center of Contemporary Mexico May 2016) “ The attack of the green men ” (Caricature of Abel Quezada) and “ CartonClub ” (August-September 2015 in the Museum From Mexico City); “ Individual exhibition in the Museum of Humor ” (San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, April 2015); “ Retrospective ” (Metro Pino Suárez; 400 cards. Beganic Galerie ); “ Víctor Vélez ” in the Regia de Monterrey Gallery and “ Chubasco ” in the Cervantes forum of the Federal District.
He has also collaborated on projects with important companies such as Coca-Cola and taught cartoon and watercolor workshops in Colombia (Bogotá, Medellín, Cali) and Mexico (Oaxaca, Zacatecas, Saltillo). He is a very versatile visual artist, because he dominates traditional techniques such as acrylic; Oil, watercolor, Chinese ink and graphite, in addition to digital techniques.
