Samuca Andrade is a cartoonist, comic strip designer, satirical cartoonist and graphic artist. He published his first book “Life in a line” (A vida por uma linha) in 1999. Ten years later, he launched his second cartoons book: “Wordless” (Sem palavras), both awarded the trophy HQ MIX as better cartoons book of the year. He has received various prizes as comic cartoon designer and cartoonist, with particular reference to the prizes Cristina Tavares in Journalism, category Press Design (2006, 2007 and 2013), prize comic cartoon at Salão Carioca de Humor (Humour Salon from Rio de Janeiro), Casa da Cultura (House of Culture) Laura Alvim (2007), Prize Journalist Vladimir Herzog, category Gag Cartoon, considered one of the most important rewards in the field of graphic humour in the world. In 2012 and 2016, he organised the I and II International Graphic Humour Salon of Pernambuco, with the themes: Women and Human Rights. He published, with the journalist and writer Ricardo Mello, the children’s and adult’s books such as “Little poems” (Poeminhas) and “Hai Kados”. Currently, he works as illustrator and publishes comic opinion cartoons at Diario de Pernambuco and is an art editor for the company Samucartum Productions.
