In short, I was born in Turin on April 12, 1963 and it was a "Holy" Friday ... well, there are those who go and those who come ... In any case, my mother claims that "I came into the world with the pencil in your hand ". And it had to be well tempered given the considerable number of points it remedied.
My first hard life experience was in first grade, during one of the few moments when I was not at work as an aspiring cartoonist. I ran into the back of a nun while I was being chased by a schoolmate whom I knew what joke I had played with: fractured nasal septum. You have to be careful where you put your nose ... but the awareness that the
I sold my first drawings to an art history teacher who rounded up his salary by selling encyclopedias. I doubt if there was a reason. However, I was four and devoured the Disney comics and the Warner and Hanna and Barbera cartoons. And in fact I was gaining weight visibly.
The school years, from elementary to high school, passed between sport and "zibaldoni", that is, tons of inked paper with cartoons, comics, caricatures of classmates and professors. (I must say some of the latter did not appreciate my talent). At the gymnasium I played the organ in the school chapel and one day I proposed the dance of the swords. This did not please the Dominican priest who celebrated. It was the end of my career as a church organist but also the beginning of that of a rebellious musician: long hair and microphone in hand as the front-man of some well-known Italian Heavy Metal bands.
1986 came, I was already involved in graphics for some time, when my period of Civil Service began. One of the dads of all of us pathological in the cartoon, the great Giorgio Cavallo, given my scribbles, had been pressing for years to try with humor and so I tried and, in fact, with my cousin Lella had seen right.
But you know, not every day is Sunday. Some vignettes for the magazine of the Youth Department of my city and then, in the year 1989, "Black Humor" Turin: my first competition. I got the recognition and I met a great Roland Topor (!) President of the jury. And if I couldn't believe it, let alone all the others.
The previous year I had crept into the editorial office of a Turin journalism school. The director was Bruno Geraci, for us of the editorial team, "Buongiorno Tristezza". Tons and apprenticeships, the "heroic" and naive years of "Literary Image", the first collaborations with local weeklies and two years of kind refusal of my material by "Tango" and "Satyricon ', satirical inserts respectively of" l'Unità "and" la Repubblica ". I thank both editors for the infinite patience and grace in expressing their opinion on what was sent, (I would have been much less kind). The Italian Post Office instead thank me for the huge amount of useless "out of bag"
Then, suddenly, as only a mocking karma can explain, a fundamental character from the world of humor came into my life, the master Dino Aloi. And from that moment on with Dino I started to collaborate and share a deep friendship, we both want to emphasize it, eminently heterosexual.
Over time, opportunities for collaboration came with local magazines such as "Il Risveglio", "Il Canavese", "La Gazzetta d'Alba" and "La Riviera" and later with magazines such as "Nuova Società", "Energeo" and "Essecome", humorous newspapers such as "Yawn" and like the recent "Buduàr", published online.
In 2006 I left my hometown to move to Liguria, where I alternate pencils with hoe, with little satisfaction of my back vertebrae but with greater quality of the gastronomic aspect. I continue to deal with visual communication operating both in the traditional and in the multimedia sector, as an illustrator in the advertising field and obviously in a drawn humor. Teaching is a big word, but according to some it is what I have done for years in the professional training sector and at a Turin specialized institute.
I hope someone has benefited from it, before it's too early ...
