Theme: Pastoralism, mobility at the heart of a balance
Themes:
“Pastoralism, mobility at the heart of a balance.” Cartoonists are invited to explore: mobility as adaptation to ecological and climate challenges; the beauty and serenity of pastoral landscapes; ancestral traditions and know-how; contemporary issues such as climate change, land pressure, coexistence with wildlife, agricultural policies, economic viability, and the interest of younger generations; environmental dimensions like biodiversity and fire prevention; social and cultural aspects of pastoral identity; the solitary yet knowledgeable figure of the herder; and animal welfare. The press cartoon angle can include satire, humour, contradictions in policies, absurdities, and awareness-raising.
Deadline: 15 November 2025, 00:00 CET
Submission: Send a maximum of two drawings (black & white or colour) in JPEG format, A4 size, 300 dpi minimum. Files must be sent by email to concours.desertif.actions@gmail.com with “DA26 Drawing Competition” in the subject line.
Required information to include: title, surname, first name, email, phone or WhatsApp, postal address, country, social media pages, website, alias or pseudonym, a short biography (5–10 lines), title of the drawing. If the drawing includes text, translations in English and French must be provided.

Regulations: Open to all professional cartoonists worldwide who have published at least one cartoon in print or online media since January 2025. Each participant may submit up to two works. Selected works can be used free of charge for educational and awareness purposes with the artist credited. Thirty selected drawings will be exhibited publicly during the summit in Djerba and used later in non-profit events.
Prizes: First Prize €1,500 and invitation to attend Desertif'actions 2026 in Djerba, Tunisia; Second Prize €750. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
Jury: Composed of seven members, including cartoonists, experts, media representatives and organisers, chaired by a renowned personality from the arts or press. Jury meets at the end of 2025.
Results: Winners will be informed in early January 2026. Public announcement will take place shortly before the Desertif'actions 2026 Summit.
