Theme: BY BUS
The Estonian Humour Museum, in cooperation with its partners Lux Express (international bus company) and Tallinn Bus Station, announces an International Cartoon Contest on the theme:
“BY BUS”
Theme Description
Submitted works must relate to bus transportation in its broadest and most creative sense. Cartoons may depict bus travel, bus stations, drivers, passengers, and situations on both local and international routes.
Is a bus merely a vehicle—or a social microcosm?
What happens during a long journey?
How does the world appear through a bus window?
We welcome witty, clever, and original interpretations of the theme.
Prize Fund
1st Prize – 750 €
2nd Prize – 500 €
3rd Prize – 250 €
2 Special Prizes – 150 € each
(Reserved for Estonian cartoonists to encourage participation if they do not reach the top three, or a special prize from Lux Express.)
Rules and Conditions
Participants & Number of Works
Each author may submit an unlimited number of cartoons.
Only one work per author will be considered for an award (the best one).
Originality
Submitted cartoons may have been previously published.
They must not have received awards in other competitions.
The author is responsible for ensuring the work does not violate copyright.
Entries created with AI text-to-image tools or based on AI-generated images will be disqualified.
Technical Requirements
Format: JPG or PNG
Quality: Minimum 300 dpi (suitable for A3 printing or larger)
Both color and black-and-white works are accepted.
Signed PC prints are accepted.
Wordless cartoons are preferred.
International abbreviations (OK, S.O.S., HELP, etc.) are allowed.
Up to 5 words in English is permitted as an exception.

Results
Winners announced no later than April 1, 2026.
Results will be published on media channels and the organizer’s website.
Awarded participants will be notified personally.
Exhibitions & Catalogue
Selected works will be exhibited at the Estonian Humour Museum (Purku village, Rapla County) and Tallinn Bus Station.
The exhibition may travel to other venues in Estonia.
The best 100 cartoons will be published in a thematic catalogue.
All participants will receive a free digital PDF catalogue (downloadable at www.eestihuumor.ee).
The top 20 participants will receive a printed catalogue by mail.
Copyright
The Estonian Humour Museum and Lux Express reserve the right to use submitted works free of charge for organizing exhibitions, printed materials, promotion, and media use (with proper credit to the author).
Submitted digital works will be archived and not returned.
Paper submissions will be returned upon request.
If no request is made, original paper works will remain in the Museum’s archives; authors may request a donation certificate.
