Theme: A NEW WORLD ORDER
Organizer: The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), through the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco (CCUT), in collaboration with CartónClub and with the support of the Embassies of France and Germany and the Goethe-Institut Mexico
The Biennial invites political cartoonists, illustrators, visual artists, and graphic creators from around the world to participate

Theme
A NEW WORLD ORDER
The first edition invites participants to reflect on the political, economic, social, and cultural transformations shaping the contemporary world and threatening peace and human dignity
The theme may address issues including:
Geopolitical conflicts
Environmental crises
Violence
Mass migration
Technological developments
New forms of communication
Changes in global power structures
Political and economic transformations
Threats to peace and human dignity
Dominant narratives and their challenges through political cartooning
Regulations
Only works that have already been published or publicly exhibited will be accepted
Works may have been published or exhibited through:
Personal websites
Online portfolios
Personal blogs
Newspapers and magazines
Instagram
X (Twitter)
Facebook
Behance
ArtStation
Online cultural magazines
Independent media
Cartoon and illustration websites
Online galleries
Group or independent exhibitions
Physical or virtual exhibitions
Works created exclusively for this competition and never previously published or exhibited will not be accepted
Only works published or exhibited between January 1, 2026 and September 7, 2026 are eligible
Each artist may submit a maximum of two works
Technical requirements
JPG format
300 dpi
CMYK
High resolution
Files submitted through WeTransfer or similar services with expiring download links will not be accepted
Artist information
The submission email must include:
Pen name, if applicable
Full name
Nationality
Short biography, maximum one page
High-resolution JPG photograph of the artist
Signed letter authorizing the use of the photograph for promotional purposes
Email address
Mailing address
Mobile phone number, including international dialing code
Social media accounts
Media outlets where the artist publishes or collaborates
Proof of publication
For digital publications, provide the URL where the submitted work appears
For printed publications, provide a PDF or JPG showing the publication where the work appeared
The participant must also provide general information about the publication or platform, including its name, frequency, address, official website, and social media accounts, where applicable
Participant requirements
Participants must be at least 18 years old
Participants must be the authors of the submitted works
Participants are responsible for ensuring that all required documentation is complete and correct before the deadline
Any altered, falsified, or modified documentation may result in immediate disqualification
Artificial intelligence
Works created or modified using artificial intelligence will not be accepted
Jury
The jury will consist of five distinguished personalities from the fields of art, research, journalism, and graphic humor
The jury’s decision will be final and unappealable

Historical and social relevance
Creativity and originality
Ability to synthesize a concept, event, or idea
Technique, style, and execution
Awards
First Prize: €1,000
Second Prize: €500
The prizes will be paid in Mexican pesos according to the exchange rate applicable on the date of the award
Prize payments may be subject to tax deductions required under Mexican legislation
The jury may declare the competition void or withhold one or more prizes under unforeseen circumstances
Exhibition
The jury will select 110 works for exhibition at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco (CCUT), National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City
Exhibition dates: October 24, 2026 to January 30, 2027
Selected works may subsequently be included in traveling exhibitions, editorial projects, and academic publications
Results
The winners and selected artists will be notified by email
Results will be published no later than September 20, 2026 through the social media channels of CCUT, CartónClub, the Embassy of France in Mexico, the Goethe-Institut Mexico, and the official website
The First and Second Prize winners will be publicly announced during the opening ceremony on October 24, 2026

Usage rights
By submitting a work and being selected, the artist grants the National Autonomous University of Mexico the right to use the work for non-profit dissemination, exhibition, publication, and research purposes, always with proper credit to the artist
Selected artists will receive a rights-assignment form by email, which must be signed to authorize the inclusion of a digital copy of the selected work in the CCUT collection
