Paul Hutchinson - UK
Paul Hutchinson is a long standing artist and illustrator based in Gateshead, who prefers to sit down. Paul specialists in high quality caricature portraits for all occasions.
CARICATURIST Paul Hutchinson has drawn on his school days to land world wide success.
He scooped a Wittygraphy gold medal for his caricature of Oliver Hardy beating off competition from the top caricaturists in the world.
But it all began as a schoolboy when he started drawing a few cheeky sketches of his teachers, inspired by the cartoons he saw in newspapers.
Before too long, my talents had been spotted by a local magazine, who hired me to illustrate an article every month. I was only 15.
Since then Paul, 48, has illustrated many children’s books and his work has appeared in newspapers and magazines across the globe.
All through his life, Paul’s real love has been the classic caricature.
Throughout my career I’ve always managed to find time to indulge in my love of caricature, he said.
I was always the one in the office who did the leaving cards and birthday cards. In the early days I worked with marker pens and watercolors but these days I work almost entirely digitally which makes things a lot easier.
I recently did a series of local celebrity caricatures which ended up decorating the walls of the Corner House in Jesmond, he explained.
It included people like Bobby Robson, Jimmy Nail, Rowan Atkinson and Tim Healey.
