Born in Ciudad Real in 1954, although he lives in Murcia, Manuel Arriaga constantly participates in graphic humor contests, and his works are in permanent exhibitions at the Museum of Graphic Humor in Fene (A Coruña), Museum of Graphic Humor in El Toboso ( Toledo); Museum of Graphic Humor Quevedo, in Villanueva de los Infantes (C. Real), and Museum of Graphic Humor "Fernando García Garreta" of Beas de Segura (Jaén).
Manuel Arriaga has another job. He recognizes that living in graphic humor is very difficult, and in his spare time he faces a blank sheet of paper every day to, with his capacity for invention and taking reality as a reference, address any aspect of life. "Normally," he explains, "I use a fountain pen for drawing, and watercolor, pencils ... I am very artisan, although sometimes I finish the drawing (online) with a touch of a computer."
In 2018 and 2019, this Spanish artist won several awards, such as the Grand Prize of the 20 th International Antiwar Cartoon Contest in Serbia,1st International Animal Cartoon Award, from Belgrade and the second place in the Coruxa Awards organized by the Fene Humor Museum, in the province of A Coruña, among others.
Manuel Arriaga has published his cartoons in magazines of all kinds: hunting, security, women, horse riding: Jara and Sedal, Clara, Trophy Horse, Hunting and Safaris and others. He published his drawings, years ago, in the regional press of Murcia. He has also collaborated in the illustration of the occasional book, the latest "Know and protect the environment", edited by the Ministry of Interior.
