Biography
Daniel Murphy was a cartoonist who worked mostly in Portland, Oregon, and in Denver, his cartoons appearing in newspapers there and in Chicago, San Francisco, and elsewhere.
Harry Daniel Murphy Cartoon Collection consists primarily of 101 original drawings of Murphy’s political cartoons for the Chicago Herald & Examiner, as well as 3 scrapbooks containing newspaper and magazine clippings of his cartoons, cartoons by others cartoonists, and articles about Murphy as a cartoonist; 2 photograph albums with photographs probably taken on family vacations to Europe, southern California, Canada, and New England, c. 1920s; and 13 tablets containing pencil sketches and notes which could have been used while Murphy
