  کامبیز درم‌بخش (۱۳۲۱–۱۴۰۰) از برجسته‌ترین و تأثیرگذارترین هنرمندان کاریکاتور ایران بود که متأسفانه این استاد نامدار به دلیل کرونا دارفانی را وداع گفتند.

  کامبیز درم‌بخش در سال ۱۳۲۱ در شیراز به دنیا آمد. او فارغ‌التحصیل هنرستان هنرهای زیبای تهران بود و از پیشکسوتان و چهره‌های شاخص هنر کاریکاتور در ایران به‌شمار می‌رفت.

  درم‌بخش از ۱۵سالگی همکاری خود را با نشریات ایرانی، از جمله توفیق، آغاز کرد و در ادامه با مطبوعات معتبر ایرانی و بین‌المللی همچون نیویورک تایمز، اشپیگل، نبل اشپالتر و دیگر رسانه‌ها همکاری داشت. او در مجموع بیش از ۵۸ سال با مطبوعات صاحب‌نام ایران و جهان همکاری مستمر داشت و مدتی نیز در دانشکده هنرهای زیبای دانشگاه تهران به تدریس هنر کاریکاتور پرداخت.

  این هنرمند فقید آثار خود را در قالب نمایشگاه‌های انفرادی و گروهی متعددی در داخل و خارج از کشور به نمایش گذاشت و حضوری فعال در صحنه بین‌المللی هنر کاریکاتور داشت.

  درم‌بخش برنده جایزه اول از بزرگ‌ترین و معتبرترین مسابقات بین‌المللی کاریکاتور در کشورهایی چون ژاپن، آلمان، ایتالیا، سوئیس، بلژیک، ترکیه، برزیل و یوگسلاوی بود و همچنین داوری چندین نمایشگاه و مسابقه بزرگ بین‌المللی کاریکاتور را بر عهده داشت.

  بسیاری از آثار او به مجموعه‌ها و موزه‌های معتبر جهان راه یافته‌اند؛ از جمله موزه هنرهای معاصر تهران، موزه کاریکاتور بازل (سوئیس)، موزه کاریکاتور گابروو (بلغارستان)، موزه هیروشیما (ژاپن)، موزه ضد جنگ یوگسلاوی، موزه کاریکاتور استانبول (ترکیه)، موزه کاریکاتور ورشو (لهستان) و مجموعه شهرداری شهر فرانکفورت آلمان.

  علاوه بر این، کتاب‌های متعددی در زمینه تصویرسازی و کاریکاتور از او منتشر شده است که از جمله آن‌ها می‌توان به «بدون شرح»، «دفتر خاطرات فرشته‌ها» و «کتاب کامبیز» اشاره کرد. همچنین آثار مشترکی چون طنزاندیشان امروز ایران، طنزاندیشان امروز ایران در خارج از کشور، میازار موری که دانه‌کش است، المپیک خنده، سمفونی خطوط، اگر داوینچی مرا دیده بود و چندین اثر دیگر در کارنامه او دیده می‌شود.

  درم‌بخش در کنار کاریکاتور، در حوزه‌های تبلیغات، طراحی جلد کتاب، تصویرگری کتاب کودک، پوستر، فیلم کوتاه، کارت‌پستال و تقویم نیز فعالیت داشت و از سال ۱۳۸۶ به بعد وارد عرصه انیمیشن‌سازی شد.

  یاد و نام این هنرمند تأثیرگذار در تاریخ هنر معاصر ایران ماندگار خواهد بود.
  
  

  Kambiz Derm-Bakhsh (1942–2021) was one of the most prominent and influential figures in Iranian cartooning. Sadly, this renowned master passed away due to COVID-19.

  Kambiz Derm-Bakhsh was born in 1942 in Shiraz. He was a graduate of the Tehran School of Fine Arts and was regarded as one of the pioneers and leading figures of caricature and cartoon art in Iran.

  He began collaborating with Iranian publications at the age of 15, including the famous satirical magazine Towfiq, and later worked with major Iranian and international media such as The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Nebelspalter, and other outlets. Over the course of more than 58 years, he maintained continuous collaboration with leading publications in Iran and around the world. He also taught cartoon art for a period at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran.

  The late artist presented his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions both inside and outside Iran and maintained an active presence on the international cartoon scene.

  Derm-Bakhsh won first prizes at some of the world’s most prestigious international cartoon competitions in countries including Japan, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Brazil, and Yugoslavia. He also served as a juror for many major international cartoon exhibitions and competitions.

  Many of his works have been acquired by renowned museums and collections worldwide, including the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Basel Cartoon Museum (Switzerland), the Gabrovo Cartoon Museum (Bulgaria), the Hiroshima Museum (Japan), the Anti-War Museum of Yugoslavia, the Istanbul Cartoon Museum (Turkey), the Warsaw Cartoon Museum (Poland), and the collection of the Municipality of Frankfurt, Germany.

  In addition, numerous books on illustration and caricature by Derm-Bakhsh have been published, including Without Caption, Angels’ Diaries, and The Book of Kambiz. His bibliography also includes collaborative works such as Today’s Iranian Satirists, Today’s Iranian Satirists Abroad, Do Not Harm the Ant That Carries Grain, Olympics of Laughter, Symphony of Lines, If Da Vinci Had Seen Me, and several other titles.

  Alongside cartooning, Derm-Bakhsh was active in advertising, book cover design, children’s book illustration, posters, short films, postcards, and calendars. From 2007 onward, he also entered the field of animation.

  The memory and name of this influential artist will remain enduring in the history of contemporary Iranian art.
