Sarolta Ban was born in Budapest, Hungry and originally worked as a jewelry designer. She later discovered digital photo manipulation and became obsessed with the process. She is a surreal photographer who creates and manipulates her images, “I like using ordinary elements and by combining them, I can give them various stories, personalities. I hope that the meanings of my pictures are never too limited, are open in some way, each viewer can transform them into a personal aspect. I’m not so good in talking about myself, I prefer the pictures ’talk’. “

“It’s funny, because in Hungarian the word 'jeweller' means you compound materials to create things, and that’s exactly what I do with my pictures :)”

She started with a small digital camera but was never fully satisfied with the images until one day she started manipulating them. She incorporates elements that represents herself in her photographs. She views her photographs as hidden messages and allegories that the audience have to interpret and understand. She likes to hide her feelings in the images so that her audience can input their own opinions and emotions into the images allowing for them to become more personal. She wants everybody to see something different and enable them to find their own personal stories in her work. She likes to find or create an object that she can then build an image around.

“I like using ordinary elements and by combining them, I can give them various stories, personalities. I hope that the meanings of my pictures are never too limited, are open in some way, each viewer can transform them into a personal aspect. So I’m happy if different people find different meanings in my images.”

I love the way in which her colors all work together to enhance the overall image. The objects become part of the whole image instead of standing alone. All the elements in the photograph work together to create a fluid work. She also has amazing texture in her pieces.
