Michael Kountouris was born in Rhodes, Greece. Since 1985 he has been working as an editorial cartoonist in Greek newspapers and magazines. He cooperates with Courrier international and he is a member of Caglecartoons.

He currently works at the Efimerida ton syntakton newspaper. He has participated in many exhibitions in Greece and abroad and he has also received awards in various competitions. Furthermore, he has illustrated children’s books and since 2011 he has worked on innovative projects for the use of cartoons in educational contexts.
