Exhibition of cartoons by Iranian Massoud Shojai Tabatabai, Grand Prix winner at 17th International Antiwar Cartoon Salon was opened tonight at the Youth Cultural Centre.

The exhibition was opened by the President of The City Assembly, Saša Mileni?, who reminded that The International Antiwar Cartoon Salon Kragujevac was not initiated by any state authority, but the City of Kragujevac had the special opportunity and honour to support the initiative started by local journalists and cartoonists through a non-governmental organization that has spread its activities and made friendships and partnerships across the world.

The constant ambition of the City of Kragujevac is to truthfully testify about the tragic experience from World War II and about the suffering during the fall of Former Yugoslavia and transform these experiences into an international message of peace and tolerance, which is the light motif of October Commemoration Events. No event manages to do this in such a complete, concrete way with worldwide reach, as The International Antiwar Cartoon Salon does. This is an event supported by many NGOs and hosted by many galleries on all continents of the world – points out Saša Mileni?.

According to the words of the director of The International Antiwar Cartoon Salon, Miodrag Stojilovi?, the winning cartoon that won Grand Prix of International Association of Peace Messenger Cities, is another warning for the world that strongly demonstrates the dark side and the fatality of war, expressed with simple means of visual arts.

A soldier who steps into the space of war, he has entered the darkness of hell. Massoud Shojai Tabatabai, author of the winning cartoon, comes from Iran, from a tumultuous area which has been exposed to threats and sufferings of war for decades – said Stojilovi?.

Massoud Shojai Tabatabai was born in Tehran in 1964. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran in Painting. He gained the title of Senior conclusive proficiency in graphic of teacher training university. He is director of "Iranian house of cartoon " and member of the Asian-Pacific Animation and Comics Association. He is the winner of a great number of international prizes in the field of cartoon and design. Due to problems with obtaining a visa, he was unable to attend the opening of his exhibition in Kragujevac.
