Gonzalo Carcamo - Chile
Gonzalo Carcamo (1954) is an illustrator, caricaturist and artist with a long experience in watercolor technique.
He has held some painting exhibitions in Brazil, Spain and in his native Chile.
For a long time he worked as a cartoonist, even taking part in small short films for Walt Disney studios at HGN.
In 1986 he published his first cartoons in the weekly Pasquim, starting a long journey with publications in newspapers and magazines more important in Brazil and abroad, conquering notoriety with his watercolors.
Diary El Pais (Spain), Apsi (Chile), Istoe, Veja, Carta Capital, Epoca, Cult, Educacao (Brazil) among others.
He also serves as book illustrator for several publishers in Brazil.
Writers of national and international literature, such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Machado de Assis, Eca de Queiroz, have already had publications illustrated by Carcamo.
Carcamo received some prizes among them are: the one of best caricature in the international humor salons of Piaui (1987) and of piracicaba (1988) and also received the prize of HQmix of better illustration of children's book (2002, 2004 and 2005)
In the year 2000 he released his first book as an author: Living model, still life by Paulus.
A touching story, told only with pictures.
Currently Is a collaborator of Folha de S.Paulo and Epoca magazine and works in his atelier, located in Vila Madalena in Sao Paulo.
He also works in the world of animation and premiered in the 2007 edition of Anima Mundi Web the work O Caoditado, produced in partnership with Cláudio Rosso in Adobe Flash software and that carries the idea of watercolor to portray a puppy that understands a lot of politics.
