Hello. A little background. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, I moved to Boston.
I wasted no time pursuing my dream of being a waiter in Harvard Square. Ultimately I decided that restaurant work was not for me.
I decided to try my hand at illustration. For a while I continued to open wine bottles and grind pepper while illustrating for the Boston Globe and other publications, until finally I took the plunge and started illustrating full time. The work has been wide ranging and fun and I am grateful to be doing this for a living. By the way, I still wield a pepper mill with panache.
Early in my career I spent a few years working on exclusively book jackets.
I had the privilege of illustrating covers for authors like Andre Dubus, Ruth Rendell and James M. Cain.
I have worked in several media, but currently I work digitally. My influences are vast, running from Fra Angelico to Rene Magritte and beyond.
U.S. Postal Service, Reebok, Polygram Records, Rykodisc, Windham Hill, Strathmore Paper, Price Waterhouse, Astra-Merck Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, Working Assets, George Washington University, Columbia University, Harvard University, New York University, Johns Hopkins University, Trent University, Princeton University, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Harper-Collins, Time Magazine, Newsweek Magazine, Business Week, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The L.A. Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, Reader's Digest, as well as many others.
My work has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Communication Arts, Print Magazine and 3 X 3 magazine.
I have taught at The Art Institute of Boston and The New England School of Art and Design. I have also lectured at Mass College of Art, Williston Academy and Wilbraham-Monson Academy.
