Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Long Island, Ed Wexler had an uncommon passion for Warner Brothers cartoons and Mad Magazine since childhood.
After attending The High School of Music and Art in NYC, Ed went on to study drawing, painting, filmmaking and illustration with a full scholarship at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Inspired and influenced by the illustration of renowned contemporary illustrators David Levine, Al Hirschfield, Edward Sorel, Rick Meyerowitz, and Robert Grossman, Ed's first published illustration appeared in New York Magazine while he was attending college.
Also interested in animation, Ed moved to Los Angeles where he worked for Ralph Bakshi (FRITZ THE CAT). Ed Wexler also worked for other commercial animation studios between 1977 and 1985 at the same time contributing to publications such as California Magazine, Muscle and Fitness and US News & World Report.
Over the past several years, Ed Wexler's commissioned work for The Hollywood Reporter special Emmy and Academy Awards issues, have earned him a reputation as being among the best caricature artists working in print today.
Of recent note, Ed Wexler appears in an interview discussing the influence that Al Hirschfield had on the filmmakers of Disney's ALADDIN on the DVD release of that film.
In addition to being an illustrator, Ed worked at The Walt Disney Company from 1985-2004.
