The 33th Piracicaba Int'l Exhibition of Comedy
Dates
The 33th Piracicaba International Exhibition of Comedy will be
carried out according to the following schedule: Enrollments until
August 5th , 2006
Opening and Awards in August 26th , 2006
Participation
All professional and amateur cartoonists will be allowed to
submit unpublished and not awarded at any other contest until the
opening date ( 8/26/2006 ) material of comedy. Every author will be
allowed to submit one or two works per category. Works performed at
any technique, will be accepted, except the elaborated ones for
computer.
Categories
Cartoon, political cartoon, caricature and strip: Free subject,
at the A3 – 297 X 420 mm format with no frames and attached to
cardboard in order to protect it. In the category Strips, one trough
four paged comedy-themed boards will be accepted.
Categories definitions
Cartoon: Graphic joke written in universal and timeless themes
Political cartoon: Graphic representation of a journalistic subject
of nowadays Caricature: Graphic deformation of a recognizable famous
person Strips: Graphic art, sequentially made, of which the story is
written in a standard format that’s usually published in newspapers
The awarding
Eight prizes adding R$ 25,000.00 will be given, divided into:
a) Four 1st place prizes of R$ 4,000.00 each, distributed to the
five categories;
b) Four 2nd place prizes of R$ 2,250.00 each, distributed to the
political cartoon, cartoon, caricature and strips categories.
The awarding jury has got the right of not awarding those categories
which don't reach an enough level, replacing the works to another
category or create special prize for the event. There will be a
selection jury and an awarding jury composed of people specialized
for this area. The prizes will be acquisitive for Piracicaba 's City
Hall.
In case of the awarding jury noticing any kind of fraud or
plagiarism at one or more enrolled works, it'll be possible the
calling off of the given prize. The awarded works will be announced
at the event's website right after the inauguration of it and
they'll be possibly denied at until one week after the event's
opening, trough appropriate evidences of any irregularity made
without the knowledge of the jury.
Other prizes and mentions will be possibly instituted, according to
Organization Committee.

Until August 5th, 2006 (posting date).
They’ll be sent back until one year after the end of the event,
October 16th, 2006. If the artist wants to get his work before that,
must take it at Centro Nacional de Humor in Piracicaba.
In addition to the enrollment record, there must be the following
information in the back of each work:
Category which the author enrolled for, full name of the author,
artistic name, complete adress, phone number, e-mail, ID number bank
data. They may also send (not mandatorily, though), summarized
résumé and photo for tallying up in the researching database of the
event.
Employees linked to event’s organization won’t be allowed to
participate in the contest.
In the of his application, the author automatically accepts the
transfer of the Author’s Copyright Cession of his(her) acquisitively
prized work(s), according to Law n. 9.610 of February 19th 1998 (Law
of Author’s Copyright) integrally, universally, and definitely, in
all the forms of utilization and freely, the author’s copyright,
covered by the law 9.610 of February 19th 1998, concerning the
prize-winning work(s) at the International Humor Exhibit of
Piracicaba, which starts to integrate the City Public Patrimony for
all rights purposes, according to the City Law n. 2249, year 1976,
partially modified by the City Law n. 2486, year 1982 and
consolidated by City Law n. 5194, year 2002.
