Which one do you prefer editorial cartoons or cartoons just to be displayed in exhibitions?
Since there is a text in an editorial cartoon,
it has its time and place limitations.
But, cartoons without texts and for exhibitions have
their own fans throughout the world,
which can be internationally interpreted the same.

Have you ever been reprimanded for drawing
a particular cartoon?

Once a cartoon of mine was interesting to officials in
Ankara Municipality and they published it in a huge size but didn’t mention my name. I went to court but was convicted.
I had to pay the publishing charges.
I was imprisoned for 10 days. It’s interesting to know
that after Huriyyet Daily had interviewed me they put the headline: A caricatural fine for drawing a cartoon.

What if a subject came to your mind and you couldn’t
draw the cartoon?

I would start with some simple lines first and then work more on it. If it didn’t go well and I could, I’d leave it and then after some time I’ll restart working again on it.

Why are most of your works color?
I’d really like my work to influence the visitor,
so background, situation, structure and the message
are really important to me. I want my work
to have a perfect composition in order
for the visitor to feel they are in the real situation.
