What is the best cartoon you’ve ever drawn?
I love all cartoons I’ve
ever drawn, but I like the one
I won in Nasreddin cartoon contest the best.
I had depicted war from children’s point of view in the cartoon.
Children are the ones who are hurt and injured in a war most.
How do subjects come into your mind?
It’s not that difficult to find a subject. The United States
attacks Iraq. And just like war movies tanks and planes enter this
country. Everything changes. It’s impossible for you not to be
inspired. In courts of law some lawyers are able to get their
clients acquitted, but others are not and their clients are
executed. These are all subjects around us.

Have you ever dreamt of a subject and
then drawn it?
No, not dream. There are some daydreams which come true in
everyday life. When you’re sleeping you don’t you don’t have
control over your thoughts, and I don’t want to do
anything over which I do not have control.
What are you doing presently?
I have been designing, publishing posters and books,
and also taking photographs since 1989.
I am now teaching photography at university in Turkey
and I’m going to start up teaching drawing cartoon at university.

What if you weren’t a cartoonist?
I would certainly do something in the world of art.
I’m a thinker before being a cartoonist.
