OSMANI SIMANCA/Cuba Creator of the I and II Salão Internacional de Humor da Bahia, with a degree in painting and drawing by the Academia de Bellas Artes San Alejandro, specialized in Arts and engraving by the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, the Cuban Osmani Simanca since 1995 adopted the city of Salvador, in Bahia, as his permanent residence, from where he sends his works to various newspapers and humor contests in Brazil and abroad, being the winner of more than ten prizes and honorable mentions for the quality of his work, including two prizes at the II FIHQ-PE in the categories Gag Humor and Caricature.
With
an absolute personal style, Simanca comes from a Graphic Humor
school where the image speaks by itself, graphically expressing
himself in an innovative way and with an extremely competent
quality.
His
caricatures aren't just portraits of the people whom he tries to
depict, but in fact they're a graphic analysis of the whole of the
portrayed, through lines of great acuity and impeccable technical
quality. Among the many prizes that he has received, besides the ones in FIHQ-PE, are highlighted the Gold Medal at the I Golagha International Caricature Competition in Teheran (Iran) and the Third Prize at the Salón de Caricatura y Dibujo Humorístico de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, having also being honored with the Ordem Estadual do Mérito do Renascimento do Piauí and the National Culture Medal of the Cuba Republic. |
