XXII. Aydin Dogan International Cartoon
Competition 2005 The Awards Ceremony will be held in Istanbul in November where members of the jury and the award winning artists will be invited. The grand exhibition of the finalist cartoons will be held in the same hall. Notes On The Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition • The competition received 51641 cartoons in 22 years. The competition started in 1983. In 1983, 478 cartoonists from 27 countries sent in 938 cartoons. In 1993 (10th year), 783 cartoonists from 67 countries sent in 2770 cartoons. In 2003 (20th year), 1200 cartoonists from 85 countries contributed to the competition with 3062 cartoons. • 176 worldwide known cartoonists, art directors, museum directors served as jury member of the competition. The theme of the competition was free except one year. (2003) • The exhibition of selected cartoons of each year travel Turkey's many cities to promote an awareness of other cultures, to share common values and to educate young generations. The exhibitions of Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition are held not only in Turkey, but also abroad. The Foundation has sent the exhibition to the Republic of Moldova, the People's Republic of China, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Japan, Greece, Pakistan and has aroused great interest.
