    Biography

This lucid humorist, who knows how to extract the essence of the gag with unusual forcefulness and who practices absolutely recognizable graphics, began publishing in the Navarrese fanzine Hamelin in 1983. His first works as a professional appeared in the children's magazine Ipurbeltz and, shortly after, in Ediciones B magazines such as Super Zipi and Zape (Benjamín, 1990) or Mortadelo Extra (Casa Paco, 1992). Along with Joaquín Resano and J.J. Chas made the album The Enemy of the Whole World (1992) for the humor magazine publisher TMEO. Apart from collaborating intensely in agencies such as ComicUp (with comics, storyboards, scripts or as a colorist), in the nineties he published in newspapers such as Diario del Altoaragón, El Mundo (Mini Mundo supplement), Heraldo de Aragón or El País (El Country of Temptations). He conceived series such as Karolino or Ficciones Reales for the satirical magazine Mala Impression in 1998, and the following year he became one of the permanent contributors to the weekly El Jueves. There he began with the series Los Chapas (1999), of which he wrote the scripts, illustrated by José Luis Ágreda. With this cartoonist, and also for El Jueves, they created four-handed series such as Jaula Magna (a kind of 13, Rue of the Barnacle of university scope) in 2003 or The planet is ill (on ecology) in 2005. Alone, and still In El Jueves, he created the Urbano (1999) and Los Ilegales (2006) sagas, a series that continues to be published. In this weekly he became one of the fixed authors of the current affairs sections.

In 1999 he wrote and drew the series Los Retractilados, a parodic review of the comic book universe that appeared in various comic magazines until 2003. As a colorist, he collaborated on the book Raúl and Andrea: a la Fuerza Hanged (2000), written by Gomaespuma and drawn by Ágreda. Again with Ágreda he wrote and colored the series Zoé in the land of fairies (2000-2002) for the children's magazine ¡Dibus !, and in 2003 he took over the scripts of Maria Misteri, a series illustrated by Javier Olivares and published in Trezevents. Between 2004 and 2006, he wrote the scripts for Mister K for Harry Pórrez (drawn by Enrique Carlos and Víctor Rivas) and Multi-Man (illustrated by Álex Sanvi). Between 2007 and 2012 he collaborated in the Público newspaper with a costumbrista series (Piso para cuatro), and with jokes about the cover theme.

Since 2012 he works for the electronic newspaper www.eldiario.es with his current jokes. In 2013, he published Palestine, a comic that, in 20 pages, reflects in a simple way and even without giving up humor, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In June 2014, a conflict arose with the publishing company of El Jueves. RBA withdrew a cover in which reference was made to the change of monarch. Vergara, along with many other contributors to the magazine, considered it an act of censorship by the company and left his job on El Jueves. Along with several collaborators who also came out of the weekly, he founded the monthly digital satirical magazine Pride and Satisfaction. In June 2014 he also started drawing in Mongolia.
